CicLAvia – Iconic Wilshire Boulevard: CicLAvia heads back to Iconic Wilshire Boulevard on August 14 as Koreatown, Westlake, and Downtown Los Angeles will host the country’s largest open streets event! Streets will be closed to cars and open for cyclists, pedestrians, runners and skaters to use as a recreational space.

City of Santa Monica Preservation and Change Workshop: “Join the Santa Monica community and the Planning Department for a discussion about the Downtown Community Plan and its approach to Preservation and Change. At this Saturday workshop will be a discussino about the importance of conserving character Downtown, as well as its sense of history, including the exploration of various options for the scale of new buildings Downtown, the types of uses and how they should contribute to best serve the community.”

Frogtown Art Walk: “Strap on your Fitbit and join the folks of Elysian Valley for the 10th Anniversary of the Frogtown Artwalk, a yearly free tour of the studios of the artists and artisans of this unique L.A. community. Check out artists of all types working with many mediums, including fabric, printmaking, photography, quilts, chalk, and wood burning (just to name a few)! The walk is only 1.3 miles one way, extending from Fletcher St to Gail St, and Pedicabs will be available for that evening. This year, artist Tim Durfee designed an art installation for the Artwalk: “manipulated illumination of riparian vegetation growing in a soft bottom reach of the Los Angeles River.” It looks different by day and by night, so try to check out both versions if you can.

Summer Nights with LACMA at NoHo Plaza: During the month of August, LACMA will be in the NoHo Arts District on Saturday nights. Stop by NoHo Plaza for art projects connected with LACMA’s collection and exhibitions and enjoy a live DJ set.
