Charles Waldheim Lecture: The New Heliomorphism
The topic of solar orientation and urban form is both perennial and, once again, timely. The discourses and practices of ‘ecological urbanism’ have turned our focus to the terrestrial topics of hydrological connectivity and ecological function. Heliomorphism proposes to revise and extend the ecological urbanism agenda by returning to solar performance. Recent projects a number of leading architects and urbanists have suggested new forms urban order through solar orientation. In many of these projects, designers correlate the shape of the city to a complex and contradictory economy of solar performance.

International Women’s Day March & Rally 2018
Join AF3IRM Los Angeles for our 2018 International Women’s Day March and Rally, “Uprising: Forward to a Feminist Future,” in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018. This march is convened and led by transnational/women of color, but all people are welcome to join! The march will feature speakers, poets, and musicians throughout the event.

This is our last Flashlight Safari until the fall daylight savings. Come join us for an after hours tour of the Wildlife Learning Center with only your flashlight to guide you. We have three tour times available. Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour time starts. In this Safari you’ll meet and touch animals from the rainforest including a rainbow boa, armadillo, and prehensile tailed skink.

Humanity Hike – February – Fryman Canyon
Join us for our second Humanity Hike! This month, we are hiking Fryman Canyon in support of the Los Angeles Mission, which works to help the local homeless community. HUMANITY HIKE is a monthly, charity based hiking organization with a goal of contributing to self care and global causes. Come together for a cause and get a great workout as well!
